Post 1 - My First Paycheck and First Income Tax

So, I guess I should start by saying, "Hi," and telling you guys a bit about myself.

I guess I decided to start this blog for fun and a place to vent all of my frustrations. Maybe I'm being childish - complaining about the crap in life where there are multitudes of people that have gone through worse (to those who have gone through something absolutely horrible, I applaud you for trucking your way through it!), but as I said, it's for fun.

Moving on, I'm a teenager who aspires to write a best-selling science fiction novel one day. For now, the only things that I post online are on FanFiction.net (username: Dogtooth3030). I write - obviously - science fiction and fantasy. The problem I have is that I can never finish anything. I've probably started about six serious books and have never finished any of them. I know - I'm so lame! But what I do write, it ain't bad. That I can admit. On a completely unrelated note, I love to play sports and read books :)

Now, onto the crap that I see in life! Recently, I got my first job and received my paycheck last Friday (I'm writing this on Monday) and in that envelope is the start of so many things. The start of my new iPod fund, my "Trip Down to Florida to Visit my Boyfriend" fund, my collage fund - let's just say that I'm trying to get money for stuff. As much as it killed me, I waited until my shift was over until I opened it. I remember it clearly: It was eleven o'clock at night and I was sitting in  my car with the light and heater on. I nearly ripped it open and feasted my eyes on the check and realized something was wrong. It was the wrong amount. I had made (roughly) 136.00 dollars, not (roughly) 123.00 dollars - I did the math myself. I couldn't figure out if Stephen (my boss) had done something wrong or what, but when I looked at the second page, I knew what had happened.

The government happened! Look, I understand that the government has to get their money from somewhere and that somewhere is us. I've heard that some people think that the government has their own money and I'd like to slap them and send them back to elementary school. Are you stupid?!?! Our government is a federal government - that means that there is a state and national government and they're supposed to get along and play fair with one another (doesn't always happen, but that's another post for another time). Their job is to make the rules, carry out the rules, and then enforce them (because there will always be those boneheads that seem to love getting raped in prison). All of these positions involve the use of money. One of the main examples that comes to mind are repairing roadsways so we can drive safely without having to dodge the potholes and hit something or have to pay an unbelievable amount of money to fix your car when the suspension wears out.

But, and I'm quoting Ronald Regain here - twice! "Whenever we lower tax rates, our entire nation is better off." and "History is clear: lower tax rates means greater freedom." They don't need to take (roughly) 11 dollars out when I make 8 dollars an hour!

Now, I understand that some of you are like, "What? That's nothing!" True, but remember my finds? Over time, when I make about 1,000 dollars, how much of that goes to the government? Well, I'm too lazy to do the math behind it, but it's going to be a lot. All that money, going to the government - and they don't even have a budget! They should have a zero-based budget - it's the only one that works. If they did, maybe we wouldn't be 16 trillion dollars in debt. let me put that in numbers for you.

16,000,000,000,000

And that's just the debt that's said. If one factored in the amount that the government promised to pay to people, it's 60 trillion.

60,000,000,000,000

Our government is screwed up, people. That's all that can be said about that.
